ZERST is an electronic dance music project based in Perth, Western Australia, created as a space for personal expression, creativity, and learning through sound. Originally from Esperance, ZERST draws on a mix of melodic structure, energy, and emotion to create music that’s designed to feel good to listen to, whether that’s on headphones, in the car, or through a decent sound system.
The project started in late 2024 as a passion-driven outlet rather than a traditional career move. With a full-time professional life outside of music, ZERST exists because making music is something that feels worth doing for its own sake. That mindset shapes everything. No rush, no forced hype, just a focus on improving, experimenting, and putting out tracks that people actually enjoy listening to.
Musically, ZERST sits broadly in the electronic dance music space, influenced by artists like Deadmau5, Pendulum, and David Guetta. There’s an emphasis on melody, movement, and atmosphere, with tracks often balancing emotional tone with dancefloor energy. Rather than locking into a single sub-genre, the project stays flexible, letting ideas and curiosity lead the direction.
At its core, ZERST is about the process as much as the outcome. Each release is treated as a step forward, learning new techniques, refining sound design, and getting better at translating ideas into finished songs. Right now, the focus is on creating and releasing singles, building a catalogue one track at a time, and steadily raising the bar with each release.
This is very much a DIY project, but it’s approached seriously. Every track is made with care, intention, and the goal of making something that resonates. Whether you’re a casual listener, a fellow producer, or someone stumbling across the project for the first time, ZERST is simply an invitation to listen in and follow the journey as it evolves.
